“This young, ten-year-old Afghan refugee girl living in Peshawar, Pakistan, had never seen her homeland of Afghanistan. I photographed her at the same time I was in Peshawar trying to find Sharbat Gula seventeen years after I first photographed her in Nasir Bagh refugee camp.”
Steve McCurry is one of the best photographers of the 20th as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Helmut Newton, Robert Mapplethorpe, Elliott Erwitt, Annie Leibovitz or Robert Capa, he was considered an icon of 20th century culture like Andy Warhol, Basquiat, Roy Lichtenstein, Jeff Koons or Banksy.
